Obituary for Virgilio G. Oliva
Virgilio Guevarra Oliva, December 8, 1928 - January 24, 2021, peacefully passed away of natural causes on Sunday January 24 in San Diego at the age of 92. He was born in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro, Philippines. He is survived by his wife, Melba, son John, daughter Anna Marie, son-in-law Joe and two grandsons, Anthony and Steven.
He attended the United States Naval Academy in 1961 in Annapolis, Maryland and served in the United States Navy from 1954 retiring in1974. He was a Vietnam War veteran. After retiring from the Navy, he worked at Balboa Hospital from 1974-1992 as a Housekeeping Supervisor. His favorite past time hobbies were watching sports on television, especially basketball, working in the garden, bowling and going to Viejas casino.
