Obituary for Rose Zampano
Rosine “Rose” Dorothy (Cascagne) Zampano, of Chula Vista, California, passed peacefully to be with our Lord on Monday 10 February, 2020. She was 97.
Rose was the wife of the late Peter Vincent Zampano, also of Chula Vista, with whom she celebrated 60 years of marriage. She was born in New Haven, Connecticut on 6 June 1922 and is the daughter of the late Salvatore and Antoinette (Muffa) Cascagne.
Over her lifetime, Rose’s talents and trades were many and varied. In her early years, she worked as a self-taught seamstress producing custom made draperies and slipcovers. During WWII, in support of the war effort, she worked as an assembler of lifeboats and life vests and in her later years, she became a certified geriatric Nursing Assistant and private duty caregiver, a profession she excelled at and one of which she was most proud.
Rose is the mother of Richard Vincent Zampano of North Branford, Connecticut and Teresa (Terri) Bratcher of Chula Vista, California and “mom” to her son-in-law Darin Bratcher. She is survived by two sisters, Anna Cascagne Iannotti (East Haven, CT) and Clementine Cascagne Nadeau (Amity, CT). She was preceeded in death by her brothers Anthony, Louis, Frank (Archie), and Gennaro (Jerry) Cascagne and her sisters Raffaela (Rae) Cascagne Caeti, Josephine Cascagne Muzkya and Mary Cascagne Perrella.
She is also survived by three grandchildren, Susan Zampano Hirsch, Richard Peter Zampano, and Jennifer Wesson-Zampano and one great-grandchild, Brayden Hirsch, all of Connecticut.
Rose loved her family, her friends, making good food and sharing good times. Profoundly grounded in her faith, she especially loved the Sunday visitations from her church and her Saturday night Lawrence Welk sing alongs.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
