Obituary for Norbert V. Amano
Norberto V. (Bert) Amano, 89 of San Diego, CA passed away on December 28, 2019. He was born in Balangiga, Philippines on September 11, 1930. From humble beginnings in the Philippines, he joined the U.S. Coast Guard in 1956 and served 30 years, rising to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4. His Coast Guard career took him to Florida, Alaska, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Alabama and finally settled in San Diego, CA. He spent his time in retirement attending college, acting as a treasury for his local Filipino organization, restoring cars and spending time with his wife Grace, his 4 children and 6 grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years Grace Amano. He is also survived by his former spouse Elaine and their children, Alan, Lance, Coleen and Patrick.
A wake will be held at Community Mortuary located at 855 Broadway, Chula Vista, CA 91911 on Jan 20th, 2020 from 5 pm-9 pm.
A Church service will be held at St Rita’s Catholic Church located at 5124 Churchward St., San Diego, CA 92114 on Jan 21st at 11:30 am.
A Military funeral will be held at Miramar National Cemetery located at 5795 Nobel Dr., San Diego, CA 92122 on Jan 21st at 2 pm.
