Obituary for Jesse Ramirez

Chief Boatswain's Mate (BMC) Jesse Ramirez honorably served the United States Navy for 30 years. Interment will occur at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in the same plot as Maria Ramirez, his wife, and Francisco Ramirez, his infant son. Enlistments by BMC Ramirez include 23 years active service and 7 years in the reserve for a total of seven enlistments. BMC Ramirez entered the U.S. Navy at 16 years of age, during WWII, following his three brothers into military service. Sadly, BMC Ramirez's brother, Michael, was killed in 1944, during the assault at Normandy, France on D-Day. During WWII, BMC Ramirez was stationed aboard the USS Pennsylvania (BB38) which engaged in several combat campaigns in western Pacific Theater of Operations. During a torpedo attack, while at Buckner Bay, Phillipine Islands, 16 crew members of the "Pennsy" were killed and the ship sustained extensive damage,
